Recipe: Sarah-Jane and Joe's Blackened Salmon

Hi y'all! Today I wanted to share one of my all-time favorite recipes. This is one that my husband, Joe, and I created together, and we literally enjoy it at least once every week! You probably already know how important seafood (especially fish that are rich in heart healthy omega-3 fatty acids, like salmon) are in a healthy diet. However, you may be one of the many people who doesn't really like fish or finds it difficult to prepare. I know I used to be one of those people! I thought fish always tasted too...

Recipe: Easy Guacamole

What's not to love about guacamole? It's easy to make, a fun party dip, and full of healthy ingredients! Avocados, of course, are the main ingredient, and they are a great source of healthy fats that are important for heart health and for keeping your skin looking great. Tomatoes (rich in vitamin C), fresh cilantro (which contains zinc and vitamin A), and spices join the party to create the perfect, flavorful guac. Whether you spread it on toast or dip tortilla chips into it, guacamole is a must-have recipe.

Video: Why HOW You Eat is Just as Important as WHAT You Eat...

When we think about healthy eating, we often focus on WHAT we eat. However, HOW we eat is just as important to achieving a healthy lifestyle. In this video, I share the four habits of mindful eaters. Research shows that mindful eaters naturally eat less while still feeling more satisfied than those who do not eat  mindfully.

Recipe for Your Memorial Day Picnic: Angel Eggs: I Give Deviled Eggs an Upgrade!

Here in the South, no picnic, cookout, or party is complete without a platter of Deviled Eggs. When I was a little girl, I thought they MUST be "bad" because they had "devil" in the name. Now, as a registered dietitian, I don't classify particular foods as "good" or "bad" (let's face it, food does not have a moral code to follow!), but I do love trying my hand at "upgrading" a recipe so it provides me with more nutritional benefits along with great taste!
